I am soooo bad at this!!

OK it has been a great while since I have blogged. I am not sure I am cut out for this. I am going to keep going but I am so sorry it you are reading this and noticing the big gap between the dates! It does not help that I am on the computer all day and so when I get home the last place I want to be is on a computer (with dial up too!) Lately we have been taking Cayden to Bounce U and he LOVES it there. I wanted to post some pictures because they are a lot of fun.

PS. My New Years Resolution involves blogging, can you guess what it is??

Kids Say the Darnest Things

Wasn't that the name of a tv show at one time? I felt like tonight we were on it and there was not a hidden camera.

The three of us were laying in bed and playing hid and seek, with the stuffed animals, etc. Cayden LOVES to play in our bed, it is his favorite place. Probably because it is the only place in the whole house that is off limits most of the time.

So we were playing stuffed animals and we were asking Cayden the names of his animals. I said what is this ones name (a dog) he said Cocoa. I asked what this ones name is (a bunny) he said bunny. I asked what a third one was (a sheep) he said sheep. Then his dad said, and this ones name is Joe (a tiger). He looked very seriously at his Dad and said no it's not, now you shut up.

Of course he went straight to time out and bawled hysterically but as he was in his room his dad and I had a chuckle. It was the first time that we saw the true personality of our son come out. Not in the right way of course but he will surely be a leader (about names of animals and everything) and not a follower as he gets older.

Parent-Teacher Conferences

Well tomorrow if our first set of parent teacher conferences. I swear this week seems like it lasts forever and it is a regular week. I am not looking forward to when I have to rush around to make a conference and still make my time that I need to count for the district. My thought for the day after nine years of teaching: "People always say the grass is greener but I don't think the grass is greener or less green anywhere, it is just different hues."

Trick Or Treat Costume

This is the costume we finally got him into after two years of trying!!

Halloween

We made it through this Halloween with not too much trouble. Cayden is of course afraid to sleep without a light on and talks about ghosts and other scary things but you know we have come a long way from last year. When he was two he would not wear this adorable Thomas the train outfit we got him, even though he adored Thomas! We had crying and screaming fits when we tried to put it over his head, so he went last year as a farmer... This year his good sense prevailed (aka candy) and he wore his Thomas costume much to our delight. He now knows that costume equals candy, and why again do we have this holiday?? I am a teacher and thankfully the kids were not in school today. The sugar shock wearing off can be tough for a lot of them. My son didn't even have that much sugar but with all the excitement he is in bed a half hour earlier tonight. That's why we do this holiday :-)

Things with wheels!

So I am officially overwhelmed with things in my house that have wheels. Anyone with a boy will know exactly what I am talking about and cringe when their son says they want a new train, car, truck, etc. I have cleaned my basement and my son's room and have filled about ten (yes ten) containers with different wheeled items. Now of course there are certain ones that go with certain tracks and he has names for special ones (I am sure moms of girls can relate to that with dolls...) that he needs at certain times. Wow, I thought keeping track of my clothes was hard but there is no comparison. Just when I think we have it under control we decide to take a trip to Strasburg on Saturday and what does he need, why a new train, of course. I wonder if I could strap some of those wheeled items instead of buying roller blades...

Potty Success!!

Finally after over three years and two days before his doctor appointment, my son decides it is time to use the potty! We are now on the fourth day and are even going through naps with no accidents. I tell you the child of mine has a mind of his own and he will not do something until he wants to do it. The same thing happened with walking. He crawled at an early age (about 7 1/2 months) but didn't walk until 14 1/2 months. He started running right away but I thought I was going to lose my mind. I am so excited we are over this hurdle now we tackle pooping on the potty and going through the night with a dry diaper. There is just one mommy thing after another...
